Alan Wigg


Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide

Professor Wigg is the current head of the Hepatology and Liver Transplant Unit based at Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide.

He obtained his FRACP in 1999 and his PhD from Flinders University in 2003. He has had periods of overseas training at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, England (2003-2004) and University of Rome, Tor Vergata (2013-14). His main current clinical research interest includes models of care for chronic liver failure management and chronic liver disease in Aboriginal populations. He is Chief Investigator A in a current NHMRC partnership grant studying the effects of chronic disease managements models and their ability to reduce liver-related emergency admissions.
